Under Feet of Clay
The Amphora Gulf is the northern branch of the Winedark Sea, a shallow and verdant sea full of colorful life and the rare few sand beaches in Calopiuis. The relatively shallow waters and navigable channels make the gulf the preferred trading hub of Cleobonomos, the sole major settlement on the emerald waters. Many small fishing villages ring the region, and the soils make for fantastic olive trees. The end of the gulf is the rather sudden dropoff into the Winedark Sea known as Thalattos’s Claim. So sharp is the contrast, and so sudden, that a visible line between the shallow and deep waters is visible from the deck of any ship passing through.
