The tale of Nethana has inspired many romantic poems, as she was rescued from death itself by her beloved, who took her place. Though a serpent bit her, and her shade descended to Thantadeus, her beloved was a hero in his own right, a son of Pallas and a musician gifted above all others. With his lyre in hand, he dared the darkness of the underworld and swayed the heart of Eleusinia, who allowed the pair to be reunited. However, just as they were about to escape, Thantadeus sent his vicious hounds to retrieve the mortal soul escaping. Unwilling to watch her die a second time, her beloved allowed himself to be dragged down in her place. It is said that at the moment they knew they would be separated, they lay together one last time, her still a shade when they began, and he a shade when they finished. And so she was with child when she emerged, becoming the mother of all Fetchlings. For her role in all this, coupled with the great deeds she completed after this assisting others communicating with lost love ones in the underworld, Nethana was given a place among the heroes of Calopius, separated forever from her musicianly lover.
