As a mortal in ancient days, Periander was a human male who found the Tablet of Civilization written by the Fire Thief during the Cosmomachy. Granted understanding of the need to bridge all trades to build a city and a civilization, Periander led a group of humans and halflings to build a mighty metropolis. Under his guidance, plans for a grand temple district to appease the gods were drafted, lest their favor turn against the fragile mortals. He used his own hammer level stone and strike nails of iron. He imparted many words of wisdom to his city, but none are remembered more than the city’s motto, “Practice all things.” In general, Periander’s specialty rested in administration and mediation, a set of skills grown to match within his city. When age came to claim him, it is said Periander sailed south to discover the secrets of new lands before joining the gods, and learned the mystic art of building vessels for life from stone and clay.
Priests of Periander mark themselves with the green robes of the rhetorician, with a leather belt filled with tools displayed prominently. Adept politicians and advisors, Periander’s priests are as likely to offer a clever retort as to help with physical actions. Brought in as urban planners to other cities, Periandropolene priests are also highly respected speakers in the Forum, guiding the development of their beloved home.
