The founder of Pittacae learned the secrets of the Tablet of War, and knew that the mortal races were not prepared to defend against the monsters, gods, and countless spirits that plagued the world. In a controversial choice, Pittacus delayed awakening the minds and spirits of other mortals, leashing them first to build his great Citadel. He made his society to be an unstoppable engine of war, ready to march and strike out against even the gods themselves. However, he had the foresight not to provoke them, and merely kept his plans ready. It is said that Pittacus even coerced the Cyclops to forge him armor and a weapon that could cut the flesh of the very gods. Whether such armaments still exist is unknown, but most assume Pittacus carried it with him to his seat of divinity with the other Sages of the Sophotheon. His iron fisted monarchy gave way to a softer rule focused on the best lives for its citizens as generations passed without vengeance from the gods, though the rigid system of classes including a massive slave caste persisted.
Volumes of the strategies for defending Pittacae fill the central chambers of the Citadel, but all bear the most prominent of these statements: “Know your opportunity.”. The warrior-priests of Pittacus train to channel the fury and focus of their patron and celestial commander. These Centurions lead forces of one hundred men and women into battle, leading from the frontlines or occasionally from horseback. Never ones to shy away from battle, the Centurions lead the charge, first to draw blood and last to retreat if needed.
