A deeply religious man, Pius was the son of the goddess Cytherea, who visited his father in the night. He is the father of Basilus, and he had a vision of spreading the devotion and order of the Calopene world to the far reaches of the Barbarian Lands. To him, unlike most Calopenes, the Tieflings were not a fundamentally weaker or wicked race, they merely did not understand the true nature of things. And so Pius set out and began taming lands in the east, laying the foundations for the city Basilus would erect and later lose. When deciding to do this after the death of his own father, Pius descended to the underworld using a sacred branch from the first pomegranate tree of Chilones to make his way. There he saw not only the shades, but the shadows of the generations to come, and saw one of his future children, cloaked in light, who would someday rule a city to rival all other cities built in the realm of the Barbarians. Even from among the echelons of the gods, Pius waits eagerly for this favored child to be born and guided to this mighty destiny.
