Straights of Nestor

Straights of Nestor

These Straights take their name from the favored son of Biasophoros, Nestor. This thin stretch of sea marks the closest entry point of the Barbarian Lands. Notoriously difficult to sail, these treacherous waters have thus far kept the barbarian fleets at bay all but once, during the invasion stalled by Spartarchos. Despite their treacherous tides and unexpected currents, the Straights are rich with many kinds of fish, and the occasional skirmish between ships is seen. Often the mighty Triremes of Calopius tangle with the black-sailed ships of the barbarians, and to date the Trireme maintains supremacy of the seas for its superior maneuverability, higher speed, and larger force contained therein.
