Unlike her brother Pallas, Sylvia prefers to keep to herself. As a chaste maiden and goddess of the moon, she punishes any who attempt to look upon her, and even hides the moon itself once a month to remind mortals that her favor can be fleeting. Beyond a small urban priesthood, the faithful of the Lady Moonlight prefer to live in the wild, in small and isolated communities. Clerics of Sylvia wear dark greens and silver, often adorned with freshwater pearls. While men can devote themselves to her, it is only women who can reach the heights of her mysteries and earn her favor. It is said that after the Cosmomachy, Sylvia alone could stalk Proteus, and wounded him with an arrow of silver, causing him and all lycanthropes to shudder at its touch. For this reason, the beast-blooded go berserk when Sylvia’s gaze is most fully upon them. Unlike other deities, most of Sylvia’s faithful are druids, rangers, or arcane archers. She protects all wild beasts from hunting beyond what is needed for food, and no creature is more beloved to her than the deer. It is said a herd of deer with gleaming silver antlers moves somewhere across Calopius, and any who draw their blood will meet the goddess’s wrath. Content to share temples in the cities with her brother, Sylvia cares little for urban-dwellers, save her desire to hunt down those beast-blooded who have hidden among the buildings for fear of the Huntress of the Wilds.
